A Community Funeral Home

Back to School Bash Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The event will take place on the Campbell Street side of the funeral home. The event is open to the community. School supplies will be given to the first 100 children, following a scavenger hunt. There will be a bounce house, food, activities and music.  Managing director and proprietor A.J. Bracy said he wanted to give something back to one of the most important sectors of the community: the youth. Bracy said he recalled the days of his youth when his grandmother took him to Kimbrell’s and Burns Hardware store to get school supplies. “Growing up, my mother was a single parent,” he said. “When local businesses and civic groups gave out supplies, it helped our family to meet a need and I wanted to be able to do the same.”  Staff members, including former proprietors, Roosevelt and Beverly Osborne -- who still assist with services and the funeral homes operation -- also have contributed to this event.  Collins Funeral Home, Inc was founded in 1914 by A.R.
